    • ABOUT
National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly National Nursing Home Week, provides a unique opportunity to bring together residents, families, staff, volunteers, and the community to celebrate our residents and the services provided within nursing facilities. Nominees will be evaluated on their successful incorporation of the 2022 National Skilled Nursing Care Week theme (Creating and Nurturing Connections) into their activity plans and implementation resulting in outstanding special activities and community events for their residents, families, staff, and volunteers to enjoy.

All communities nominated must be a NNFA member in good standing at the time of the nomination. All communities must meet the following criteria:

      • The community’s 2022 National Skilled Nursing Care Week program must have incorporated innovation and creativity.
      • The program must have provided outreach activities to the local neighborhood/community as well as to the families, staff, and volunteers of the nursing facility.
      • The programming must have exhibited a variety of activities for the residents meeting all levels of capabilities and preferences.

Each nursing facility nominated should submit:
      1. A copy of their activity/recreation calendar for the 2022 National Skilled Nursing Care Week.
      2. Photos that demonstrate successful community-based programs.
      3. A brief essay (no more than 250 words) of why they should receive this award. The essay should include a brief overview of the week’s activities, why the activities were selected, how the activities brought the nursing facility and the local community together, and how the overall program achieved success. (Please note: All materials, essays, and photos submitted become the property of NNFA/NALA and may be used in its publications and websites.)

If the nominee’s circumstances permit, they will be invited to attend the awards ceremony during the NNFA/NALA Spring Convention, April 26, 2023, in Kearney. The recipient will be presented with a recognition plaque.
